SPEAK UP / LISTEN UP WORKSHOP
This half-day workshop focuses on building the skills to support each participant's increased effectiveness when they speak up and when they listen.
For whom is this workshop best suited?
This workshop is ideal for groups who have identified an opportunity for improved communication and collaboration. This session can accommodate groups from 10 to 100 people.
Why is Speak Up/Listen Up important?
At the core of effective communication are these two inter-related behaviors. Being highly effective in both of these communication behaviors leads to people feeling valued and heard, improved collaboration and team culture and wiser, more informed decision-making.
What do you mean by Speak Up? How about Listen Up?
Speaking Up refers to our ability to be effective when we ask questions, make suggestions or recommendations, raise issues, provide feedback or perspectives.
Listen Up reflects our ability to be present and receptive to what others say, to fully hear and acknowledge what's said, to give it appropriate consideration, indicate next steps and close the loop (when needed).
How do you help participants improve their Speak Up/Listen Up in this workshop?
In this highly interactive session, we look at what can make it hard to speak up and to listen up. Then, we explore best practices, and through multiple scenarios, we practice the skills for success. Finally, Participants then develop individual Action Plans that leverage what they do well and identify what they will do new or different for both Speak Up and Listen Up.
What do participants take away from the session?
Participants leave the session with a hand out that summarizes the best practices for Speak Up and Listen Up, a simple framework to help guide how they structure their Speak Up messages and a 90-day Action Plan for each of the behaviors of Speak Up and Listen Up.
